Subaru BRZ finally in Malaysia

Motor Image Malaysia the exclusive distributor of Subaru in Malaysia has launched the Subaru BRZ. Officiating at the event was Senior Manager of Sales, Eric Ong and with him to help with the unveiling were GT300 drivers Tetsuya Yamano and Kota Sasaki.

The 1998cc, 200bhp, 205 Nm rear wheel drive sports car is powered by a newly developed FA engine which Subaru claims is highly efficient with superior output and environmental friendliness. Matched with a six speed automatic gearbox, the 0-100km/h sprint takes just over eight seconds. Top speed in 210km/h. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are quoted at 14km/L and 164g/km respectively.

The BRZ is available in seven colours: Satin White Pearl, Sterling Silver Metallic, WR Blue Mica, Galaxy Blue Silica, Lightning Red, Dark Grey Metallic and Crystal Black Silica. The car comes with 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels and self-levelling HID headlights as standard. The headlights have pop-up washers. Inside, there is the option of leather/alcantara trim for the six-way manual adjustable driver's seat and folding rear seats. A six-speaker audio system with a CD slot, one AUX input and, disappointingly, just one USB port; dual-zone automatic air-conditioning and heated front seats are just some of the features on the BRZ along with cruise control and paddle shifters. Entry is keyless with push button start.

On the safety front, besides ABS, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, Side-door Reinforcement Beams, and three airbags plus knee airbags for the driver.

The new Subaru starts from RM239,800 without insurance and road tax.
