MERSING, 8 Sept (Bernama) -- Sultan Johor bertitah projek pembangunan

Mersing Laguna bernilai RM22 bilion dibatalkan berikutan kegagalan pemaju projek

mematuhi syarat-syarat perjanjian yang ditandatangani pada 25 Feb lepas.

Menurut Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, baginda sentiasa mengawasi

kemajuan projek itu dan memastikan ia dijalankan dengan sempurna.

"Mengikut perjanjian, pihak pemaju hendaklah meningkatkan modal berbayar

RM200 juta. Namun sehingga hari ini, setelah tamat tempoh enam bulan, pihak

pemaju masih gagal untuk memenuhi syarat asas tersebut.

"Dengan kegagalan tersebut, maka projek ini dengan sendirinya adalah

terbatal," menurut Sultan Johor yang bertitah pada majlis hari ulang tahun

Rejimen Gerak Khas ke-47 di Kem Iskandar, Mersing di sini hari ini.

Sultan Johor bertitah baginda sendiri merasmikan majlis pecah tanah projek

mega itu pada 14 April lepas.

SULTAN-BATAL 2 (AKHIR) MERSING

Pemaju bagi projek Mersing Laguna itu merupakan syarikat tempatan, Radiant

Starfish Development Berhad.

Projek Mersing Laguna yang akan meletakkan Mersing di dalam peta pelancongan

dunia itu membabitkan pembinaan 22 hotel dan resort, marina, taman tema air

dan pusat membeli-belah.

Ia juga melibatkan usaha tambakan laut bagi mewujudkan tiga pulau buatan

manusia. Fasa pertama projek itu dijangka siap dalam tempoh tujuh tahun.

Sultan Johor menasihatkan kerajaan supaya sentiasa berhati-hati apabila

menerima dan menilai cadangan pembangunan yang dikemukakan oleh mana-mana pihak.

Negeri Johor titah baginda sememangnya sedang pesat membangun dan sentiasa

terbuka kepada mana-mana pemaju yang betul-betul komited, mempunyai kepakaran

dan modal yang nyata.

"Sekiranya ada mana-mana pihak yang cuba menangguk di air keruh dengan

mencari jalan mudah untuk mengaut keuntungan, maka pergilah ke tempat lain

kerana tiada tempat untuk orang seperti ini di negeri Johor," menurut baginda.

Setiap apa yang berlaku menurut Sultan Johor, akan diperhatikan baginda bagi

menjamin pembangunan yang dibuat itu benar-benar berjaya dan memberi faedah

kepada rakyat dan negeri Johor.
