Water supply rationing for the first, third and fourth stage of the plan is expected to end on April 30, according to one of the parties responsible for the supply of the natural resource in the Klang Valley.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) corporate communications and public affairs assistant general manager, Priscilla Alfred said this would, however, depend on the decision of the state government and National Water Services Commission (SPAN).

"The implementation of the first, third and fourth stage of water rationing is still on as planned and decided by the state government (until April 30)," she said in a statement today.

On the delay in channelling water to certain water-rationed areas in Hulu Langat on April 19, Priscilla said this was due to a burst pipe in Taman Minang, Kajang, causing Taman Minang, Kajang Emas and Kajang Mulia to experience water supply disruption for a few hours.

Meanwhile, Gombak which was also experiencing water rationing, faced the problem of frequent shutting down of the Wangsa Maju water treatment plant as the murkiness of the water exceeded the permitted level, she said.

"Although there was alternative water supply from the Phase 3 Sungai Selangor water treatment plant, the overall water distribution was still short as there was no contribution from the Wangsa Maju water treatment plant.

"Besides that, treated water supply from the Phase 3 Sungai Selangor water treatment plant was being reduced due to reduced supply of raw water from the Sungai Selangor dam."

Priscilla said in cases of critical need for water supply such as funerals and weddings and for the dialysis centres, consumers could apply for supply from Syabas' lorry tankers or static water tanks.

Consumers are also advised not to use water for non-critical needs like washing cars.
