Takahashi Minami will stay on in AKB48

20 Feb – AKB48 member Takahashi Minami, whose mother was recently fined for committing indecent acts on an adolescent, has shared that she would continue to remain in the idol group for her fans and supporters which showed that she was undeterred by the scandal.

According to Tokyo Hive, Takahashi made her thoughts known on the blog of AKB48 sub-unit No Sleeves, where she thanked the support she was given from her fans, the staff and other members of the idol group.

"Because of everyone, I am able to stand at this place. I understand there are many opinions, It can't be helped if people think I shouldn't be in AKB. But...I would like to continue," she wrote.

"One day, I want to stand on my own two feet, and make my dreams come true. I think that's the way I will repay everyone who has supported me," she continued.

Although Takahashi's name was not specifically mentioned in the official reports when her mother was arrested but many had presumed it to be her. Takahashi had received more than 100,000 supportive comments from her fans shortly after the scandal.
