Tokyo stocks open down 0.24%

Tokyo stocks opened down 0.24 percent amid tepid trade Thursday, following a weak session on Wall Street and as investors await fresh trading cues from Japanese GDP figures next week.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 46.74 points to 19,644.65 in opening deals.

The broader Topix index of all first-section shares slipped 0.25 percent, or 4.05 points, to 1,591.27.
