PENAMPANG, 25 Sept (Bernama) -- Ekspedisi Saintifik Kinabalu-Crocker berjaya

mengumpulkan 1,400 spesis tumbuhan dan haiwan, 10 peratus daripadanya adalah

endemik di kawasan Taman Kinabalu dan puncak Gunung Alab Taman Banjaran Crocker.

Ekpedisi tersebut dilaksanakan selama lima belas hari dan berakhir hari ini

dengan majlis penutup diadakan di Stesen Inobong Banjaran Crocker selepas ia

dilancarkan pada 10 September lepas di Taman Kinabalu di Kundasang.

Penolong Pengarah, Bahagian Panyelidikan dan Pendidikan Taman-Taman Sabah

(TTS), Dr. Maklarin Lakim berkata penganjuran ekspedisi itu bagi mengenal

pasti flora dan fauna endemik terdapat di dua kawasan terletak di bawah

jagaan TTS.

Katanya, ia merupakan ekspedisi saitifik pertama yang difokuskan kepada

flora dan fauna endemik kawasan pergunungan.

"Sebelum ini, banyak ekspedisi saintifik dijalankan hanya menyenaraikan

flora dan fauna yang terdapat di dua kawasan taman itu.

TTS-EKSPEDISI 2 (AKHIR) PENAMPANG

"Penyeldikan dilakukan dalam ekspedisi kali ini mengenal pasti asal usul

flora dan fauna yang terdapat di situ," katanya kepada Bernama ditemui selepas

majlis penutup ekspedisi di Stesen Inobong Taman Banjaran Crocker dekat sini.

Ia disempurnakan oleh Timbalan Pengerusi Lembaga Pemegang Amanah TTS,

Patrick Jilan.

Ekspedisi tersebut disertai penyelidik dari TTS bersama kumpulan penyelidik

dan saintis dari sebuah Pusat Biodiversiti di Belanda serta dari Universiti

Malaysia Sabah, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak dan Jabatan Perhutanan Sabah.

Menurut Maklarin, lapan tapak kawasan tertumpu di taman Kinabalu dan taman

banjaran Crocker untuk ekspedisi saintifik itu.

Beliau menyifatkan pelaksanaan ekspedisi saintifik itu berjaya kerana

berjaya mengumpulkan 8,000 spesimen flora dan fauna untuk dianalisis.
