Britney Spears Describes 'Abusive' Conservatorship During Hearing in Los Angeles

Fans and members of the so-called #FreeBritney movement gathered outside the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles on June 23 as Britney Spears spoke out against her conservatorship.

“I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized,” Spears said, in a rare public testimony. Spears told the judge during the 23-minute address, “I just want my life back.”

Jamie P. Spears was granted control over his daughter’s personal and financial affairs in a court-ordered conservatorship in 2008, following a number of widely reported incidents, including Spears shaving her head and driving with her infant son on her lap.
