Work Continues to Reopen Wailua River Bridge After Drill Rig Collapse

Work to fully reopen the Wailua River Bridge continued on Sunday, April 14, after a drill rig and storm debris fell on bridge supports on Friday.

Footage released by the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HIDOT) shows work late on Sunday to cut through the fallen drill rig boom.

HIDOT said the bridge was on target to reopen on Monday.

Night closures would continue, HIDOT said, as debris removal would go on into the week. Credit: Hawaii Department of Transportation via Storyful
