Koala Statues Feature in Extinction Rebellion Protest Outside Australian Parliament Ahead of COP26

Koala statues and demands for climate change action headlined a protest outside Australia’s parliament in Canberra on October 19 ahead of the COP26 climate change summit.

The Extinction Rebellion demonstration referenced a judgement by the Federal Court that said the country’s environment minister had a duty of care not to cause physical harm to young people from climate change.

The protest was held ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP26, in Glasgow, Scotland. The conference was due to run from October 31 to November 12. Credit: Extinction Rebellion Australia via Storyful
