Retiring Therapy Dog Given 'Rock Star Farewell' by Queensland Hospital

A retiring therapy dog got a “rock star farewell” at a hospital in Birtinya, Queensland, on Monday, March 27, after providing patients with companionship for seven years.

Video from the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service shows a crowd clapping for Norman the dog at Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

The health service said Norman was retiring from therapy visits after being diagnosed with canine cancer. “Norman’s visits are always a highlight for patients and staff and he will be missed by all,” the service said on Facebook. Credit: Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service via Storyful
