Water Rises in Southwest Florida as Hurricane Ian Bears Down

Hurricane Ian battered southwest Florida on Wednesday, September 28, bringing flooding, heavy rain, and strong winds to the area with the potential for a life-threatening storm surge.

The National Hurricane Center said Ian had developed into an “extremely dangerous” Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds near 155 mph.
