KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 28): Berjaya Land Bhd is assessing the feasibility of transforming its aviation unit into a business jet entity from the current turboprop-aircraft operations.
In a statement to the exchange, Berjaya Land said the business review of subsidiary Berjaya Air Sdn Bhd's (BAir) operations is crucial to capitalise on the rising demand for business jet services.
"The jet operations provide an opportunity for BAir to tap into this new segment in view of the increasing interest in business jet travellers (from both corporate and high net-worth passengers).
"BAir is planning to acquire and operate the business jet aircraft from the Subang Skypark terminal," said Berjaya Land which is controlled by tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan.
According to Berjaya Land, the firm has appointed Datuk Eddy Leong as managing director (MD) and chief executive officer of BAir. Leong was formerly the MD of rival airline Firefly.
Firefly is a a unit under Malaysian Airline System Bhd.
